Ersehnen is a small kennel that got its start in 1993 on the Canadian Prairies just outside of Regina, Saskatchewan. Bruneau River came to be when Jay acquired his third GSP, Sage.
In September 2000 - 2 became well 2 when Betty & Jay married. Since both had previously bred litters their original kennel names were maintained. We strongly believe in breeding selectively, always striving to improve in every generation, and to reach that unattainable goal of perfection. Our dogs are not actively campaigned but rather shown on a limited basis, usually owner-handled.
Although Betty did not hunt, several of the dogs bred at Ersehnen are in hunting homes. Jay, the hunter, makes sure each dog here gets out on birds as we strongly believe if you lose the instinct in these magnificent animals you lose the very essence of the breed. After the birth of our son our ability to get to competitions was limited but that is changing now that he is older and not quite so hard to tear ourselves away from.
We are very proud to offer some of the dogs currently living here, as well as some who were born here, for your consideration. We hope you enjoy your visit.
